The Masters of Commerce in Health Information Management (HIM) is a collaborative international programme tailored for allied healthcare professionals. It is currently jointly offered by the University of the Western Cape (UWC), the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU) in Germany, and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Tanzania. Participants in this programme are required to spend time in each of the three partner institutions. It is a development programme which is co-funded by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) (in English the German Academic Exchange Service) as part of its programmes of collaborating Germany and developing countries’ higher education institutions. It is an interdisciplinary programme that combines information management, healthcare management, business administration, health informatics and intercultural communication and personal leadership competencies which are critical in healthcare management. ¬†Graduates from this programme are making enormous contributions in Health Information Management in their respective designations.
